Functional Art

THAT HOLDS YOUR STORY

SCULPTURAL

ACCENT TABLES

Built with Texture | Rooted in Meaning

Functional sculpture from wood that has lived a hard life — knotted, scarred, and full of history

the grain that took a hundred years to form

the bend where the tree changed direction under pressure

these aren’t flaws

they’re the record of a life fully lived

Contrasted with modern metal — deliberate, minimal, precise

our world is fast, efficient, and more overwhelming every year

the steel I bring to my designs represents that world honestly — decisive, ordered, essential

yet it doesn’t dominate — the wood endures alongside it, rooted and unhurried

the contrast is what commands the room

Core Elements Side Table

People usually recognize something of themselves in it

a tree doesn’t grow straight and smooth without an easy life

most lives, human or otherwise, aren’t easy

the grain that bends around a wound, the twist that happened slowly over decades of wind and weather

these are the marks of endurance

At the intersection of intention & resilience

when you pause to trace the grain

something happens before the words form

a second of stillness, a breath that finds you

grounding and lifting at once

the natural world — still present, offering its gift to those willing to receive it

the modern world — pushing forward, informed with promise and determination

that recognition is what I'm making toward

the wood remembers

the steel commits

together they hold what matters

More than a maker

A creative partner

Turning story into form

With a master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and over two decades of experience in operations, I built my career by leading teams and making an impact in the non-profit world. However, in my early 40s, a quiet desire for a more hands-on, creative life became impossible to ignore. What began as a welding lesson from my husband soon ignited a full-blown passion—and a completely new path.

Today, I am the founder and artisan behind Core Elements Studio, where I handcraft functional sculpture and statement pieces for the home that blend modern simplicity with organic warmth. Each piece is a balance of form and function, born from my background in systems-thinking and love of thoughtful design.

My artistic pursuit — bring forth beauty drawn from what was hard, in nature and in life. So that the people who live with my pieces are returned, again and again, to what is real.

  • an extension of my story

Working with Dakota Meeks of Core Elements Studio was more than commissioning furniture - it was a deeply personal and artistic journey. From the very beginning, Dakota took the time to understand not just what I needed for my space, but who I am and how I wanted to feel in it. The custom set she created includes a stunning console table, two nesting end tables, and a matching tray that all feel like an extension of my story.
