The Stories
Between the grains of reclaimed wood and the folds of human experience,
I build more than furniture—I build stories
Every piece I craft begins with a conversation—with a person, a home, a yearning. My creations are more than a portfolio. They’re glimpses into stories I’ve had the honor of shaping through wood and intention.
Here, you’ll meet the people. See the process. Feel the meaning. My creations are about more than furniture, they're about connection.
The People Behind the Pieces
-
When sifting through reclaimed wood, the most twisted, knotted, notched and rugged slab at the bottom of the pile is exactly what I gravitate toward. It’s the piece that I know will tell me a story and offer an uncommon stance – one with substance and depth. It has a familiar stubbornness that I’d like to get to know. I must simply be willing to commit the hours to listen and learn.

The design-build process is such a fulfilling experience, but the actual build is only half the story. The people involved are what really brings this creative endeavor to life. The reflection of the client – sometimes both literally and figuratively – in the final product is immensely satisfying and inspiring. This is why I do what I do.
Read the Story -
As we bumped along the rural Montana roads, my mind was swirling on the various possibilities of custom pieces without ever having visiting Bill’s home. We stopped alongside a collection of old fence posts offered up for firewood. At the very bottom of the pile – positioned as a brace to hold up the other wood off the moist ground – was a twisted 9-foot cedar post beaming with character and mystique.
“What makes Dakota stand out is her relational approach—she listens deeply, involves you in the creative journey, and ensures the final piece feels like an authentic extension of you. We are beyond grateful for her artistry and heart, and we can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“The imperfections in the wood reflect the imperfections in us. It’s in those knots and cracks that the stories are held.”
